Martha Graham

This one is even older than the robot heads. For this assignment we had to draw a piece of paper from a hat. There would be a name of a famous dead person on the piece of paper. And draw the person a perfect Christmas gift, and another drawing of the person enjoying the gift. I got Martha Graham. She was apparently a very famous dancer and choreographer from what I remember. And I based the thank you drawing on a quote I found.

“I believe in never looking back, never indulging in nostalgia, or reminiscing. Yet how can you avoid it when you look on stage and see a dancer made up to look as you did thirty years ago, dancing a ballet you created with someone you were then deeply in love with, your husband? I think that is a circle of hell Dante omitted.”

So I thought “Hey! Lady needs a torch, so she can burn down all of her memories and focus on today”

Do I still <3 NY ?

So we were supposed to illustrate to a text named Do I still ❤ NY. By far the most difficult assignment this year. I had major trouble coming up with an Idea for it, and ended up doing the whole thing the day before we were supposed to hand it in. The colors look a bit weird on the computer, since I saved it with CMYK colors.

And here are some bigger versions of the images, without the text.
